Locking Your Keys In The Car New Jersey!

It’s something that many of us have probably done at some point in time, locking our keys in the car. It’s not fun, and it creates quite a hassle, especially if you need to be somewhere. Although annoying, the problem can be fixed in more than one way. What should you do if you happen to lock your keys in your Kia Soul? The following tips will unlock the key to getting back inside your vehicle.

Call 911. If you are concerned about your safety and do not feel comfortable where you may be stranded due to locking yourself out of your vehicle, dial 911. Sometimes the police can unlock your vehicle, but if not hey can call a tow truck for you.

Call roadside assistance. There are several organizations to choose from for roadside assistance, AAA and Allstate are two of them. Also, many new cars come with roadside assistance included in the warranty package. Be sure to keep the number stored in your phone or on a window sticker so it doesn’t get locked in the car with your keys.

Call for a tow truck. If you do not have roadside assistance you can call a tow truck as most provide lock out services. Dial 411 for local tow truck companies.

Get a temporary key. Sometimes your local New Jersey auto dealer can provide you with a temporary key that can unlock your door but not start your vehicle, giving you access to your keys locked inside. You will most likely need your VIN (vehicle identification number) and proof that you own the vehicle.

Keep a spare key. Keep a spare key in your purse, wallet or securely hidden somewhere on your vehicle. You can purchase small magnetic boxes that can hold a key and be hidden somewhere on your car. You can also leave an extra key with someone who could rescue you.

Buy a car with anti-lock out features. Many cars today are made so that the car will not lock with the power button if the keys are in the ignition or a door is ajar. Some vehicles also have keypads on the door that you can program a code into to unlock your door.

No key at all. If you have lost your key entirely, all is not lost. You will need a locksmith, but your cost will generally go up. And replacement keys, especially for computerized keys can become quite expensive.

Of course we would all like to avoid getting locked out of our vehicle, but it does happen. For more information visit Consumer Reports. Also, follow the tips above, should this happen to you and call your local New Jersey auto dealer, Sansone Jr’s 66 Automall. We would be happy to help any way we can!

Teen Driving Accident Causes New Jersey!

If you are the parent of a teen driver then you know the worry that comes along with that. A new study done by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) shows that teen drivers are making poor decisions and taking more risks when it comes to driving. There are cause of teen driving accidents is many, and for increased safety, make sure you and your teen driver is aware of them.

1. Inexperience Driving. The majority of accidents that a teenager may have will occur during the first year of driving. Be sure to provide many hours of supervised driving and have your teen practice on a variety of terrain, different times of day, and in different weather and traffic conditions.
2. Driving with other teens. When teens drive with other teens, their risk of accidents increases. Some states have passenger restrictions for teen drivers, so double check this. If there is no law, limit other teen passengers to 0-1 for the first six months of your teens driving.
3. Driving at night. According to the CDC fatal crashes are more likely to occur at night, and this is true for all ages. Give your teen a driving curfew of 9 or 10 o’clock at night.
4. Seat Belt Usage. Wearing a seat belt is the easiest way to prevent deadly accidents. Make sure your teen is always wearing their seat belt.
5. Driving while tired. Drowsy driving causes many accidents and this is more likely in the early morning or late evening hours. Make sure your teen is fully rested when getting behind the wheel and give the driving curfews.
6. Distracted Driving. Distracted driving is another cause of many accidents. Do not allow your teen to talk on the phone, text, eat or play with the radio while behind the wheel.
7. Driving Recklessly. According to the CDC many teens do not have the experience, judgment or maturity to know when a situation may be risky. Help your teen avoid speeding, tailgating and being aware of their surroundings.
8. Impaired Driving.  Stress the importance of driving while intoxicated to your teen driver as even one drink can impair your driving ability.

As a parent, one of the most important roles you can take is to be a good role model. If you practice the appropriate behaviors while driving, your teen will most likely follow. Buying Car Insurance Online New Jersey!

Whether watching television or going through your junk mail, it seems that there is always an auto insurance company claiming to offer the lowest rates on car insurance. You will have to do your homework however, to determine if you are paying the lowest rate possible. If you are driving a Nissan Altima, the rates will be lower than if you were driving an SUV. And doing this on-line will give you access to all auto insurance companies at your fingertips. There is more than just price to consider when comparing rates however. The following are things to keep in mind when you go surfing for auto insurance rates.

1. There is more than one way to buy auto insurance.
There are really only two ways that you can buy auto insurance, online or in person. According to the internet marketing research company ComScore, only 20 percent of auto insurance policies are purchased online. Online purchases have increased 5 percent in the last two years, while in person purchases have decreased by 6 percent. And, according to J.D. Power and Associates, 54 percent of new auto insurance owners applied for a rate quote online.

2. Have the needed information ready.
Before you begin to collect rate quotes you will need to have the following information ready: car make, model, year, VIN (vehicle identification number), zip code where your car is parked and information regarding any after market alarm systems. If you would like to try and reduce your rate you can check if your miles driven have decreased since the previous year, take a defensive driving class and bundle multiple cars and your home.

3. Compare rates yearly.
You should shop around for rates each year. To compare quotes form multiple companies, you can use a website such as netquote.com or insure.com. You will submit information about your car and driving history in exchange for a quote, which may be sent via email.

4. Know your state insurance.
Auto insurance is regulated by each state. If you need to find out more information about your states policies, you can visit the National Association of Insurance Commissioners State Web Map. Here you can find a link to your state and view profiles of licensed insurance companies in your state and find consumer guides to buying auto insurance.

5. Price is not everything.
Before you buy from a company based on price alone you should review the terms of the policy and the amount and type of coverage you are receiving. Verify the integrity of the insurance company you are purchasing from by going to consumerreports.org or JDpower.com.
Keep the above information in mind the next time you compare auto insurance rates for your vehicle. And, if you’re in the market for your next vehicle to insure, visit your local new and used auto dealer, Sansone Jr’s 66 Automall today!

Don’t Get Left Out in the Cold With a Dead Battery New Jersey!

Old man winter is definitely upon us!  As the weather temperature drops for us outside New Jersey, it’s time to take out the winter coats, gloves and hats.  Just as the cold weather is shocking to our system and requires us to keep warm, the same is true of your favorite Sansone Jr’s 66 Automall car’s battery.

The optimum temperature for your car’s battery is 80° F; at this temperature your battery is operating at 100 percent capacity.  By the time it reaches 0° F your battery is only operating at about 50 percent capacity.  The winter weather certainly affects your batteries power, and you wouldn’t want to end up with a dead battery in the middle of winter.  Thankfully, there are some things you can do to prevent this.

The best prevention for keeping your car battery operating as effectively as it can during the winter months is your garage.  Keeping your car out of the elements is always the most effective way of stopping damage to your car.  If however, this is not a possibility, you can invest in a battery heater to take you and your New Jersey car battery through the winter months.

The purpose of a battery heater is as it sounds: to keep your car’s battery warm and cozy throughout the long winter nights.  A battery heater can keep your car operating better during the winter, prolong the life of your car battery and make it easier to start your engine come morning.  There are several choices available when it comes to purchasing one, so check them out and see which one suits you and your automobile best.

Remember also, to have your battery checked by a professional to prevent and correct any wear and tear that may occur.  Stop by and see your friendly parts and service departments at Sansone Jr’s 66 Automall.  We can check out your battery and assist you with anything you may need.  We will be happy to help you and your battery stay warm this winter!
